ST. JOSEPH’S TO HOST BOOK LAUNCH AT 布鲁克林 VOICES SERIES

布鲁克林,N.Y. – April 5, 2023 – The Writer’s Foundry at St. 约瑟的 University, New York (SJNY) will celebrate the release of “四个在手,” a collection of poems written by MFA faculty member Alicia 山, Ph.D., at a book launch on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. as part of its 布鲁克林 Voices Series.

The event will take place in the Tuohy Hall auditorium and will feature an author reading and conversation with poet Brenda Shaughnessy and Ariel Yelen, associate editor for Futurepoem.

“Dr. Alicia 山 is a beloved professor here, where she teaches poetry workshops, mixed-genre craft classes and innovative electives,” said Lee Clay Johnson, director of the Writer’s Foundry MFA program at St. 约瑟的. “Her debut collection was an award-winning success, and now her most recent release, promises to follow a similar trajectory. We are thrilled to celebrate such an accomplishment.”

Dr. 山, an assistant teaching professor in the 布鲁克林 Campus’ MFA program, won the Iowa Poetry Prize for her debut collection “High Ground Coward” in 2018, and was the 2020-21 Artist in Residence at the University of Central Oklahoma. She was formerly a Clemens Doctoral Fellow at the University of Denver.

“四个在手” covers topics including, 心理健康, environmental degradation and late-stage capitalism.

The Writer's Foundry MFA in Creative Writing program at St. 约瑟的 is an intimate program that specializes in fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Students work together in workshops, craft classes, symposia and master lectures. The program takes two years to complete and boasts a flexible schedule with evening offerings tailored toward the working writer.
